I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No.122 of the 6th May transmitting a statement showing the items comprising the sum deducted from the grose revenue for 1917 on account of the expenses of the Opium Monopoly, a copy of which I have caused to be forwarded to the War Office for the information of the Army Council.

2. The Army Council ao enquire whether

a similar statement for the year 1916 can now

be furnished and I should be glad if you will be 'so good as to comply with their request.
